Why do we blog? This is the question that has puzzled me since long time and I have tried my best to find out various answers to it. I am thrilled at the outcome. Many people used to blog because they just loved the idea of having their own personal space on the Internet. With the advent of Internet advertising, pioneered by Google AdSense, the focus shifted to making a few bucks out of it. I am part of this second generation where I write because I want to and then I utilize many advertising sources to earn decent revenue, so that I can continue running my online life! By this time, almost everyone knows about Google AdSense and how to use it to make money online. But there is life beyond AdSense - there are affiliate marketers who are just awaiting to be embraced, paid reviewers, and even freelancing opportunities.
I would now talk about how to make money out of affiliate marketing - it is by the way of earning commissions for qualified leads / sale. There are hundreds of providers out there, but I would strongly suggest you associate with only the best. To name a few, the best ones are Commission Junction, Shareasale, eBay, and many more. The most important point to understand, before you start, is: What is basis on which you get commission? If you search Google with this search query, you’ll get hundreds of thousands of results. But I have come across probably the best description of this process: “Understanding Commission Structures in affiliate advertising” on the Web-Articles site (refer screenshot). This site is neatly classified under different categories with huge collection of useful and informative articles. Coming back to our main topic, note that most of the affiliate marketing sites give out commissions in one / more of the following methods:
- Pay per click - A pay-per-click commission structure pays you a fixed amount generally between 3 and 25 cents per click for each click (or visitor) you send to the client’s web site.
- Pay per sale - Pay-per-sale programs fall into two categories:
- Percentage of sale or revenue. You receive a percentage of the purchase price or a percentage of revenue (net profit).
- Fixed commission per sale. Instead of a percentage of the sale price, you receive a fixed commission (e.g., $5 or $10 per sale).
- Pay per lead - They pay affiliates when someone clicks on their ad and performs a particular action. Some examples include “Completes forms” | “Opts for free registrations” | “Takes advantage of free downloads”.
- Mixed payments - Some sites, like eBay, have well-developed affiliate systems that pay differently for different actions. First, if you place an ad that causes someone to register with eBay for the first time and then use his or her new registration to place a bid, you earn a fee of between $12 and $22.

In my last article (Make big money from affiliate marketing), I discussed affiliate marketing and what is the commission structure of common affiliate programs. Though it is important that you pay attention to the commission structure, it is more important and crucial as to how you exploit this affiliate opportunity. What I mean by this is, you may be subscribed to many top affiliates, but if you don’t know how to better utilize their links on your sites, you may be lagging behind. Thats precisely the reason why I am now talking about placement of advertisements (or links) in your site and how important it is to multiply your revenues.
Google AdSense has already provided a basic (and proven) framework of relationship between placement of your ads and the eyeballs they receive and thus revenue (You can read it at AdSense Help). Well, I have gone through it but I wanted more, as usual. So on my franatic search, I came across this wonderful article: “Where your ad appears on a site counts very much“. Here is my take on this article… Ads can appear anywhere on the page - at the top, bottom, either sides or even in the center. But choosing the right time and place for an ad depends a lot on the type of your site. Also, where your ad appears on a site counts almost as much as what you say in the ad. There can be 2 broad categories of sites: sales sites and content sites. For Sales sites, ads should be carefully placed so as not to draw the visitors away from the site before conversion (i.e. sale of product / service). For Content sites, you have a little more flexibility in placing your ads. Content is your hook for bringing these customers back, so ads should not crowd out the content on the site.
Important tip: In some cases, product comparisons are a good example to present your ads as content! For example, you compare the price of the latest Harry Potter novel on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Half.com; you can show price quotes from your affiliate links! Your readers get what they are looking for - price comparison - and you may end up getting the commission!

CHECKS are perhaps one of the most widely used participatory note instruments, i.e. money-exchanging instruments, after cash. Checks typically are printed papers bearing logo of the issuing bank and carry watermarked security signs. Traditionally, checks have bore this boring look. The only glamour-factor checks carried was the colors of the issuing banks. For example, HDFC Bank issues checks which has light-blue background color, Axis bank checks carry light-pink background color, and so on. I always wanted that these checks should be little more customized and personalied. By this I mean the checks that I own should carry my own logo (may be of my company, or just something that I create using Photoshop), have attractive font and seducing colors. But my wish has never came true…
Not any more… I just purchased this marvellous package from CHECKSUNLIMITED, which gives immense glamour to my checks. Yes, you read it right - glamor to checks. Now I can have checks printed against practially ANY BACKGROUND and COLOR!! I can have checks with my favourite Harley Davidson in the backdrop, or my daughter’s lovely Barbie doll, or even my sweet little daughter’s photo! Google’s about to have its second tenth birthday. In late August, Blogger will officially turn 10 years old. As our birthday draws near, we thought it would be interesting to share some fun facts about Blogger:
- Every minute of every day, 270,000 words are written on Blogger
- Millions of people worldwide use Blogger to publish to their blog each week
- Almost two thirds of Blogger’s traffic comes from outside North America (What’s the #2 country after the U.S.? Brazil, followed by Turkey, Spain, Canada, and the U.K.)
- The most popular sport for our bloggers? Soccer (that’s football to the rest of the world), more than four times larger than the #2 sport, baseball
What’s your story? Did your blog help you find a job? Learn a language? Interact with your fans? Master a new skill? Battle an illness? Turn a hobby into a career? We read as many blog posts as we can, and what we do read is often brilliant. But we want to know more — we want to hear from you about what Blogger has meant to you over the past decade.
Do what you do best: tell your story. Blog now…

In my search for good quality articles on blogs, I bumped upon this article on SmartBloggerz which talks about Why should you comment on blogs? I was quite impressed with the views expressed by the author and hence am happy to spread his wisdom!
Commenting on other blogs is a very good thing to get readers no matter the blog is a dofollow or nofollow. You should comment on other blogs of your choice regularly. If you are still not convinced about this, here are some top reasons that tells why you should keep commenting on other blogs:
- If you keep commenting on other blog with your identity, the owner plus other readers will also start knowing / recognising you. You need to leave comment as this is the best and the only way the blog owner can analyze your goals without any sort of direct or indirect communication.
- Nowadays, many blogs are DO-FOLLOW and they let you leave a link of your website while writing comments on their blog. This may lead to increased traffic flow and also enhances link popularity & readership.
- Luck, could be a major factor while commenting. Since when you comment you don’t know that who is reading that thing and it could be possible that some biggies from the industry is reading it and could be amazed by your opinion and might help you in someway.
Other than that, I advise to comment on new blogs as much as possible since if you are commenting in a crowded blog like Shoemoney, then chances are less that it could be read by everybody. So keep commenting and add value to the discussion as it includes lots of fun. So start right away by commenting on my blog!! :)
