FRIDAY: It is really commendable that the Army and NSG were successful to gun down most of the militants who were hiding inside The Taj, Trident (Oberoi), and Nariman House. However, sources say that there is a possiblity of 1-2 terrorists hidden still inside these buildings… The hunt is sill on!03:15pm: Two grenade blasts have been heard from Oberoi hotel. Earlier, grenade blast has been reported from Nariman House in south Mumbai, where six terrorists are holed up. One terrorist had been gunned down earlier.02:10pm: Rediff.com reports that the first 4 floors of the six-storeyed Taj Hotel have been sanitised. Forty bodies have been recovered so far. NSG sources add that four fidayeen (suicide bombers) have been killed in the final assault.
12:42pm: Police say one terrorist holed up inside Nariman House has been killed. Six more terrorists are suspected to be hiding inside the building. 11:25am: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil has said that there can be 10 to 12 terrorists involved in the terror attack inside Taj Hotel. Five of them have been killed and one of them arrested, he told media persons outside the hotel as security forces prepared to launch an assault to end the terror. 11.00am: Latest reports say that the Navy and Army have taken control at Oberoi. Reports also say that US intelligence officials are among the foreigners killed at Taj Hotel. Thursday 9:00am: The recent news is that the hostages from Taj have been rescued; they are all safe and sound. However police & fire brigade was unsuccessful to rescue hostages in The Oberoi. The government has sought the help from the Military, which is expected to swing into action anytime soon. Another luxury hotel Trident was under siege with some terrorists holding some foreigners hostage. A tourist guide was worried about the fate of five Canadians he had put up in that hotel. Earlier in the night, explosions were heard in the hotel. Exchange of fire intensified at Nariman House, a residential complex with a Jewish prayer hall, where also a hostage situation was prevailing. There were unconfirmed reports of a similar situation in Cama hospital. As Wednesday night’s terror incidents spread a sense of panic and fear in the metropolis, schools and colleges were ordered closed and the Bombay Stock Exchange will not function on Thursday. Suburban trains and city buses operated normally but without usual rush. Except for cancellation of three international flights, domestic air services to Mumbai were maintained. Wednesday 11:00pm: It has been an unfortunate incident. Terrorists have, once again, rocked Mumbai. They struck again at the Chatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST, declared as Heritage building by Government of India) station (formerly Victoria Terminus, VT) yesterday late night, started randomly firing taking a few innocent people hostage. The police, fire brigade officials, and even special task force also arrived at the spot (though not immediately) and tried to take the situation under control. One eye witness reported that the police arrived almost 50 – 60 minutes later after the terrorists first opened fire. |
| (Video courtsey: Rediff) Almost at the same time, a few more terrorists dashed straight into the Taj Hotel (declared as Heritage building) and started firing there too. They kept a few innocent people as hostage and when police opened counter fire, they started hurling hand grenades at the police. It is reported that 3-4 police inspectors died in this incident. Some time later, the terrorists also set some of the part of this heritage building on fire! It was an embarrassing moment for the police as they could not do anything to control this situation and to gun down the terrorists. |
Meanwhile yet another team of terrorists captured The Oberoi Hotel (also known as The Hilton Tower) and the situation there was almost similar to Taj… Some of the witnesses said that the attackers were looking for British, Americans…
I have a strong dount here… Some time back, Raj Thakrey and his political party MNS (Maharashtra Navnirman Sena) pronounced violence all across Mumbai because of the Marathi Manoos issue. They loudly said that they are against the anti-Marathi people and especially anti-north Indians. What is MNS and Raj Thakrey doing right now? They showed that they have so much power (even the Mumbai Police could not do anything to control the violence). I believe the MNS should step in and shoot these bastard terrorists… What are you waiting for Mr. Raj Thakrey?
A few days back, Mumbai Police mercilessly shot down a youngster Rahul Raj. His only offense was that he had kept hostage a few passengers in a BEST bus, and was calling for arrest of Raj Thakrey for his anti-north Indian stance. Mumbai Piloce could well arrest Rahul or maximum they can shoot him on his hand / knee and force him to surrender. But what did they do? They simply killed him! This is how Mumbai Police is… When they can demonstrate their power on common people, why they CAN NOT control the terrorists? Are they lacking power?? I don’t think so…
