A rug made entirely of jewels is the star of Sotheby’s first-ever auctions in Doha, Qatar
When Sotheby’s kicked off its inaugural series of four auctions in Doha, Qatar, on March 18, the worldwide auction house was hoping to attract a handsome amount in the auction. A unique throw-rug-sized carpet made of pearls, diamonds, rubies and emeralds - the highlight of the auction - was expected to fetch around $20 million, with bidding starting at $5 million!!!
