April 30 is the Voting Day in Mumbai, Thane, and some other parts of Maharashtra and few other states in India. I am sure many of us now agree that today’s India symbolizes YOUTH and so are today’s politicians – well, would-be politicians. I was equally excited at the thought that I will be voting for the first time from Thane (Maharashtra) constituency. However, as the V-Day is nearing, my anxiety, confusion, and dilemma is increasing.

It has been enough of Indian politicians… Most of these are corrupt. Hundreds of people died in recent Mumbai attacks, but what these politicians are more worried about is their seat of power! What a shame… These politicians just don’t have the willpower to do anything to the ever-growing issue of terrorism… They are more interested to increase the Hindu-Muslim divide and to cash in on vote-banks because of the pricking issues of religious and racial discrimination.

Global economic slowdown has not spared India too. Though situation in India is not that critical as in the USA, but our economy has seen a sharp erosion in the value of money and the spiralling prices of essential items. This has indeed played havoc with people’s lives, making it difficult for them to make both ends meet and to maintain their (decent) living standards.
